But Greta’s mission is not one of political niceties it is a crusade for political unification behind climate science. ![]() No one interested in simply playing nice openly chastises the United Kingdom parliament for its lack of action. In these lines and so many more in Greta’s book, we see a direct rejection of respectability politics. In the second speech at Davos, called “Our House Is on Fire,” Greta further laid out the science of her plea - namely, a call for a complete halt to greenhouse gas emissions in the pursuit of keeping global warming under 1.5° C - but also pointed directly to systemic change as the only means of achieving those goals: “Unless we recognize the overall failures of our current systems,” she warned, “we most probably don’t stand a chance.” ![]()
